12:44 pm - Optional House Rules for Artillery

As posted in MWRealms by myself. Discuss?

Artillery are placed on the field as "neutral" units, though contributing to the max build total of the fielding player's army.

To operate an artillery piece, it must have an "operator". An operator is defined as any infantry unit with movement mode "foot", whose front arc is in base contact with the artillery's rear arc. If the artillery has no operator, it may not be given an order. As neutral units, any artillery is subject to use by any player, provided they can make base contact with an infantry unit as stated above. In cases where two opposing infantry units are in base contact at the same time, the artillery may not fire. Infantry may begin play as operators.

Optional: Operators may be required to equal the point cost of the artillery piece they are attempting to control. In this case, multiple friendly infantry may be in base contact with the rear arc of the artillery, and they combine point totals for determining the possibility of control.

9:56 am - Upcoming event strategy

So, this last Sunday, at Phantom of the Attic, i participated in my first sealed box event. Not posessed of an extreme amount of strategy when it comes to the round robin passing of figures, i was luckily blessed with my first Atlas mech, Ms. Eriabee Childs. I used her to nice effect, winning 2/3 games, and only losing to noeticist, which i expected.

Knowing now that I can play alright with a larger mech, I'm planning my game for the upcoming Phantom 450 pt event.

Here's what I put together.

Collin Tolek - 285pt
Swordsworn Gnome Battle Armor (2) - Veteran - 38
Swordsworn SRM Team - Veteran - 16
Swordsworn Laser Team - Elite - 18
Dragon's Fury Spider - Green - 93

Simple tactic thought here. The four infantry units move together with Collin, covering his rear in base contact, facing outward to confront oncomers and preventing anyone from basing the Tollek from behind. The spider, running at a 20 w/ jump jets races for the enemy deployment zone. With Collin and his pals on one side, and the Spider mech pounding in for 3 clicks on the other, we push the enemy into the center and dispose of them.

That's the dream, anyhow. Any thoughts on 450 pt teams?
